Woven on slow Japanese looms, the luxurious Lana (Italian for knitting)  is characterised by lightness and softness like a wool knit. Designed to absorb water in seconds while gently pampering your skin with fine, three-dimensional weave. With a dark and neutral palette and a sophisticated design, the Lana towel bridges the gap between functional modern living and elegant luxury.

Alternatively – the Face size is quick-drying, so it can be used as a kitchen cloth, Hand size can be used as a towel around the kitchen and washroom. The Hair size can be used as a pillowcase as well as a bath towel. The Bath size is a product with a wide range of use such as blankets and shawls, and it is popular as a lap blanket at many stores and restaurants in Japan.

Kontex towels are woven at gentle speeds on an old fashioned weaving machine in Imabari, where towel-making has been the regional speciality for over 200 years. This slow weaving process brings out the natural softness of the yarn, making the towels extremely soft, yet durable enough for everyday use. Kontex towels are highly absorbent, lightweight, fast-drying and environmentally friendly.

    Maker Profile

    Kontex

Since 1934, Kontex has been crafting high-quality towels in Imabari, Japan. The secret to Kontex’s softness is in the manufacturing process. Each Towel is made from fine, garment quality thread that’s loosely twisted for the highest level of softness. Such threads would break on modern weaving machines, thus Kontex towels are gently woven on traditional, low-speed machines to maintain the integrity of the thread and achieve a level of softness that modern machines cannot produce.

Because towels contact the skin, we find it imperative that no substances which could affect the body remain on the surface of the towel. Kontex products are carefully washed with large quantities of fresh spring water from the melted snow of Mt. Ishizuchi, ensuring every thread is free from impurities.
