Beeswax is a remarkable by product of honey. It is made by the youngest honey bees in a colony, they are too young to forage for nectar. Beeswax is the only fully natural wax available which is essentially a by-product of honey making. The bees use the wax to make cells which are then filled with honey. Once the honey has ripened, the cells are capped with a fresh layer of wax. We extract the honey ourselves and then separate the wax and honey using centrifugal force. The remaining wax is then melted and filtered before being made into candles.
Burning beeswax produces negative ions that circulate in the room and attract pollutants and clean your air. They can effectively reduce asthma, allergies and hayfever.
Please note each of these candles is handmade, and there may be minor variations on the surface and finishing of each individual candle.

Pauariki Honey
Our great grandfather, James Busby, etched his name into New Zealand's history as mediator in the signing of our nations founding document - the Treaty of Waitangi. What the history book's don't talk about, is the passion for East Coast farming he passed down through the generations.
Pauariki Station has now been in our family for seven generations, and is where we (Mike, Cate and our four children) now base our business Pauariki Honey.
As proud East Coast locals it was a natural progression for our family to end up creating honey that celebrates the untouched beauty of our special, untouched region. The business has steadily grown, with hives all over our farm, Gisborne and the East Coast, and our passion has grown with it.
From Busby to Buzzy Bee, we have a past rich in history, and a future as sweet as honey.
